I've created a guide for those of you who have lost a cavy.

First, let me just say I'm sorry for your loss. It's okay to cry, but the best thing to do is remember all those wonderful things that made your pet so special. Those are the things your pet would want you to remember. Never forget, that even though you've lost a pet, you've gained a guardian angel. It's important to visualize yourself in your memories featuring your pet. Don't ever forget those special past times.

Second, feel free to post a special memorial here. Include pictures, if you'd like to, and flashback on anything you'd like to add. The memorial will stay here for people to view, and for you to get a load off your shoulders.

Don't forget to save the pictures! You're probably thinking "Won't the pictures make me sadder?" But the answer is no. Throwing out the pictures will make you sadder, because you will have nothing to reminince on when you need to remember your pet. Besides, you'll be mad in the future if you've lost the pictures that hold your best memories.

It's really sad losing a pet, and it's okay to cry, and you'll most likely be angry and place the blame on yourself. Do not place the blame on yourself. It's not your fault and you do not deserve to carry anymore of a burden. Pets die, and you can't put every ounce of blame on yourself.

People will want to comfort you during this time, just don't consider blocking them all out. It will help to talk about this with other people. You can always talk to us about it, but real-life conversations will take the most effort. Just remember, time alone is fine, just don't exclude yourself from the real world.
